Pick up

Queenie was the kindest of her family. Sitting in her lavish apartment, at the desk, she finished her latest novel. She’d always been very prolific, even at a young age, in fact her teachers at school used to complain about just how much she wrote. Slowly she got up and made her way down to the underground garage. Due to her selfless nature and bigheartedness she had been chosen as the designated driver to a gathering of the four families. Queenies mission was to pick up two from each of the other three families and one from her own. First she picked up her baby brother Jack.
“Now mind your manners Jack.”

“What do you mean?”

“I mean if you can’t say anything nice to our guests then don’t say anything at all.” The Heart family had always been the noblest of all the families and Queenie was determined that nothing was going to spoil this. They turned up to the first family’s home where they picked up Ace and Trey. These were two of the youngest that she would pick up. They were also a couple of trouble makers. From the next family she picked up Dixie, the eldest of her pick ups and Cecile. The three boys in the car laughed at the sight of the two hats that the ladies were wearing.

“Ladies I love your hats” Queenie said. “You’ll have to let me know where you got them so I can get one.” The frowns that were once there changed to a smile. Queenies complimentary nature often had that affect on people.

Just then there was a loud bang, everything started to shake. Queenie stopped the car and everyone ran out across a large green field. They all lay flat on top of each other, being totally unselfish Queeny laid on the top. Just then a large hand reached down and grabbed at them.

“Your deal.” Came a large booming voice.

“How kind.” Came another as they were passed to another large hand and shuffled along with the rest of all the families.
