Please help

A man was walking home after a night out at the pub with the darts team. He was turning the corner into his own street when he was knocked to the ground by someone rushing in the opposite direction. As he staggered to his feet, he heard a dog bark, the screech of brakes and a high-pitched scream. Quickly he dusted himself off and ran around the corner to see what had happened. What he saw shocked him. There laid in the middle of the road was an old lady the driver of the car had stopped and was leaning over her.
“I don’t know what happened” the young lad from the car said “I came around the corner there was no one there then suddenly.” The boy looked up and stared down the street. “Hey you stop” he shouted. The man looked up to see who the young lad was shouting at. The man who had pushed him down.

“Why are you shouting at him?” he asked

“He pushed her into the road that’s why I couldn’t help but hit her.” With that in his mind Keith ran off after the man. ‘First me then her’ he thought to himself ‘this man is a menace to society’. Relentlessly Keith followed as the man continued to run, over roads, through alleyways. Keith rounded the last corner and laughed.

“Got you” he said as he started to laugh “you picked the wrong man to mess with boy”. As he got nearer to the young lad he saw just how frightened he looked the boy started to shake as a long dark shadow filled the alleyway. There stood in the entrance of the ally was a gang of three tall men all wearing bomber jackets, scruffy jeans and army issue boots. Keith only knew they were army issue due to the fact he’d been there and done that as a young lad. None of the three lads had any hair it had been shaven off and as they got closer he saw that they all had the same tattoo on there neck. A weird design. He turned again to the young lad. His fear was even greater now and it was then that Keith noticed that he had the same tattoo as the three men in the entrance of the alleyway.

“Leave” one of the three men snapped at Keith. “Leave now and you’ll be ok”.

“What do you mean?” Keith asked. It was then that he noticed that one of the men had a baseball bat. As he looked closer he noticed that the others had weapons to. The young lad grabbed at Keith’s jacket.

“Please don’t leave me” he begged “please help.”

“If you know what’s good for you you’ll go”. Came a voice from the entrance. Keith knowing he was out numbered looked at the boy as he made his way out off the alleyway.

“Sorry” he said and vanished out of sight as the three men closed in on the scared young lad.

125 western lake avenue

It was 5-30am on a cold Friday morning. A white car with the word police written on it sat outside of house number 125 Western Lake Avenue. It had been parked there on watch all night but now the warm light of day was chasing the cold dark of night out of the sky and the replacement car, a blue unmarked Prego, was now on the scene. Gavin Jones, a young detective with the metropolitan police force, got out of the police car and made his way to the Prego to make his report to the officer replacing him.

“Anything intriguing happen last night then?” The Detective Chief Inspector asked, scratching his head.

“No sir. All quiet, except for the husbands secret rendezvous with the hotty across the road. He stayed there about an hour then made his way back.” The Detective Chief Inspector nodded his head with a wide grin on his face as Gavin Jones went back to his car and drove off.

At 8-45am Detective Chief Inspector, Marvin Pass, made his way up the path to the door and knocked. He then went back to the car. The door opened and out came the man of the house, forensic pathologist, Thomas Proud. He made his way to the blue Prego and climbed in the back. Once Thomas was in the car Marvin drove down town to the pathology lab.

The Proud family were under police protection ever since the death threats had started coming a month ago. At first they had only been put under surveillance but, after the brutal way the family pet, a pure white Burmese mountain dog, had been murdered, they were now under constant protection. No one could work out how the culprit had managed to get into the back yard. It was worse for the three young children in the house because that morning they had been the ones to find the leg hanging from the back porch. The rest of the dog scattered around the yard. The weapon that had been used, an old wooden handled meat cleaver, had been taken out of the neighbours garage. But when C.S.I. had looked both at the crime scene and in the garage of the neighbour no evidence could be found.

Once at work Thomas started on the first body laid on his autopsy table. Marvin was puzzled Thomas seemed unaffected by it all. Marvin turned away from the door as Thomas started the autopsy with the standard Y incision. Twenty five years on the force and autopsies still had an uncanny knack of making Marvin feel sick.

Back at number 125 Western Lake Avenue Maria Proud was trying to solve a problem with the washing machine. After about half an hour of trying, kicking the thing was all she could think of doing. The officer, who was in the house downstairs, made his way into the kitchen.

“What’s up?” he asked.

“Flaming things stuck again.” she replied almost in tears.

“Let’s have a look.” The officer got on his knees and after five minutes the machine was working again.

“Thank you.” she said smiling at the young officer. He simply nodded and walked back into the lounge. Up stairs the young female officer watching the children was getting twenty questions thrown at her. The eldest was asking things like: ‘What was the worst she’d seen? Who was the youngest victim? How many suspects had she arrested?’ At the same time the youngest was asking: ‘Do you have a dog? Are you in a relationship? Where do you go on holiday?’ The officer put her head in her hands and sighed she couldn’t wait for 5pm to come.

Monday morning brought good news for the Proud family as Detective Pass knocked on the door.

“Can I come in?” he asked as Thomas answered the door. Slowly they made there way into the sitting room. “We have the man whose been harassing you. His name is Lukas Fact. He was arrested last night on suspicion of rape. When in the cells he’d started talking. He said he was stumped as to why the girl would implicate him when he was busy. After some more questioning he admitted that he was the one who killed the dog.”

“What was the motive detective?” Thomas asked.

“After further investigation we found out that his sister Lucy Fact was a patient of yours when you worked at the local hospital. She died due to neglect. For all it was the nurse in the wrong he blames you.”

D-Man, Scrapper, Wonder Wes. (chapbros comic)

one day deep below the depths of chapbros media building wonder Wes was hard at work.

"hey bra" said scrapper "what you up to?"

"oh I'm just putting the finishing touches to this" he replied holding up a small can.

"what's that bra?"

"it's a new weapon I call it A Mazing Grace as one spray and the enemy becomes so graceful he is easy to catch"

"bra that's so bad its not funny" said scrapper. just as scrapper was about to walk away he turned "you seen D-Man today"

"I think he was going out to see the Big Dog"

"ok I will try him there. later bra" scrapper said raising his hand up.

later that day scrapper approached the pad of the Big D.O.G. as he continued up the path he saw a ginger curly wig that looked vaguely familiar and there laid beside it the D-Man.

"hey bra what happened?"asked scrapper

"it was Loopy Lucy Loo loo she tried she tried to grab me. I just did to say get away"

"holy handcuffs D-Man"

"exactly scrapper we need to go see wonder Wes" so off the two went.

meanwhile within a secret cave under Diamond Head creator ......

"what do you mean he got away?"snapped the evil Loopy Lucy

"well we tried to grab him but...."

"but" snapped Loopy Lucy "but you say but" slowly Loopy Lucy made her way towards the girl who had dared to say but. grabbing her by the arm she dragged her to the top of the walkway and pushed her into a large bowl of quick set jelly and watched as she sank to the bottom of the bowl "right" snapped Loopy Lucy "anyone else want to say anything" everyone went quiet. "now go get him for me or get me someone or something that will make him come to me" quickly the other 3 people jumped into the car and spread off.

back at chapbros media towers. Wesley d chapman was sat in his office

"can you come into my office please" he said into the intercom

"coming" came the voice of the secretary through the intercom. minutes later in walked a beautiful blonde woman carrying a note pad and pen.

"ah good. emm what's your name again?" asked Wesley

"not funny"

"sorry babes I couldn't resist" he smiled and then continued. "I need you to ring my brothers up for me and tell them I need to meet them about our new app."

"I will get on to it straight away" she said turning around and leaving the room. just as she sat down at the desk in walked Duane Lee and Leland Chapman. "Wes needs to speak to you" she said

"glad to hear that Megan coz we need to talk to him to" Duane lee said walking straight past the desk and straight through the office door.

the 3 of the bro's walked out of the office together.

"I'll get on to it straight away" Wes said walking back into the office and closing the doors behind him.

as d-man and scrapper went to leave the a loud noise of breaking glass was heard from inside the office. quickly they turned and ran back into the office. as the opened the door there was one of loopy Lucy's hench women strapped into a harness with a lifeless Wes strapped to her back. looking up and seeing d-man and scrapper she waved and quickly jumped out the window. rushing to the window they watched as down on the ground the hench woman and her accomplices bundle Wes into a dark van and drive off.

"what are we going to do d-man?" asked scrapper. just then the secretary looked through the door.

"WES" she screamed.

"its ok Megan we are going to get him back" said scrapper

"and I think I know where to start looking" said d-man picking up a clothing tag off the floor.

standing out side of the new clothing and sports store scrapper looked up at d-man

"but how do you know they are here"

"look" d-man said handing the clothing tag he picked up off the floor of the office.

"BB's property clothing line" scrapper read. "still don't know why you think this is the right store though bra" he said handing the tag back to d-man

"its the only one tacky enough to sell them thongs" d-man replied waving the tag around. "ok lets do this" he said kicking open the front door.

once inside d-man and scrapper put on there X-ray shades to make it easier to look for movement

"I'll go left you go right" said d-man

"ok" replied scrapper.

scrapper had only gone a few steps when he saw something.

"d-man quick she's here" he shouted and took off running down the isle.

"scrapper wait" shouted d-man and took off after him but before he could reach the isle scrapper had run down he heard scrapper scream. when he got to the isle it took him all his strength not to laugh. scrapper in his haste to catch the girl he had seen at the end of the isle hadn't seen the skate board and had stood on it loosing his footing and landing in a shopping cart that was now hurtling down the isle at top speed. unfortunately the cart didn't stop at the end of the isle instead it continued crashing its way through rack after rack of clothing and eventually stopping and tipping over after crashing into the far wall. d-man quickly composed himself and ran to see if scrapper was ok.

"you ok bra" he asked rummaging through a heap of clothing hoping to find his partner scrapper. soon a little head poked out from under a pile of lingerie.

"I'm here bra" he said. d-am just coughed and nodded to scrappers head. there on top of his head was a thong "eeewww" scrapper said quickly pulling it off and throwing it across to d-man who just did step out of the way in time.

"come on get out of there we need to see if we can find out where that woman went" d-man said looking around to see if he could spot her. scrapper struggled his way out of the pile and stood beside d-man

"lets go then bra" he said. d-man looked down at him

"emmm scrapper what's that?"

"what's what" scrapper asked looking down at himself "oh bra" he said

"well how about you take it off" d-man replied.

"ooohhhh" scrapper said looking disappointed. d-man just stared at him "ok ok" scrapper said fumbling with the clasp that was behind his back "I cant get it off" he said.

"come here" d-man leant across and with just one hand managed to open and remove the bra that scrapper had been wearing

"wow you've done that before" smiled scrapper.

"shut up" d-man said hitting scrapper across the back of the head.

meanwhile back within a secret cave under Diamond Head creator ......

"what do you want from me?" asked wonder Wes as he was tied up above the vat which was 3 quarters full of quick set jello

"well my dear" said loopy Lucy "your not who I want, you weren't even who I was going to get for bait but..... well lets just say I have a friend who wants you" loopy Lucy said patting him on the cheek.

"what do you mean?"asked wonder Wes as loopy Lucy walked away. as she walked down the steps a shadowy figure appeared at the cave entrance

"ah your here" loopy Lucy said walking towards the figure. "don't look sad" she continued "we haven't hurt him I promised not to. you can go check there isn't a hair out of place"

"its ok I trust you" came a familiar voice.

"no it cant be" wonder Wes said to himself "she wouldn't.... would she"

while that was going on there back at the store d-man and scrapper had managed to get back on the track of loopy Lucy hench woman as she made her way through the store and through a door marked store room.

"we've got her now d-man" said scrapper heading towards the door.

"wait" said d-man grabbing scrapper by the arm. "this seems a little to easy"

"but that's good"

"not if its a trap" d-man said after a while he let go of scrappers arm "ok go for it" with that scrapper charged through the door. d-man stood for a few minutes before following to see what had happened. when he walked through he saw scrapper stood over the top of loopy Lucy hench woman.

"what happened?" asked d-man

"I don't know she was like this when I walked through the door"

"well we better try and wake her if we ever want to see wonder Wes again she will have to tell us where he is"

meanwhile back at the secret location of loopy Lucy

"so do you know if the others are on their way yet" loopy Lucy asked

"they should be I left the clue for the store in the office and I left your girl there for them to catch so she could tell them where you were" the familiar voice said. "even they cant mess this up" she giggled.

"MEGAN?" Wes shouted. slowly the shadowy figure stepped forward. there stood in the light was Wes' secretary Megan in a black catsuit. "WHY?" Wes asked.

"because this is the only way I can get you away from that flaming building" Megan stated walking across towards wonder Wes. "every five minutes it phone calls or inventions or something I was never able to get you alone so when loopy Lucy girls grabbed me the other day to try and get the other two here I made a deal with her. I would help her get them here if she grabbed you for me"

"we need to discuses money" loopy Lucy interrupted

"ok" Megan replied and started to follow loopy Lucy. looking back at Wes she said in a reassuring voice "I promise you will be ok she just needs you to get the others here once there here you and me can spend some time" she said smiling. for all wonder Wes was angry Megan smile made his heart melt and anger fade somehow she could always get around him.

loopy Lucy and Megan hadn't been in the office long when there was a huge noise from down in the secret cave. "no body move" they heard someone shout from downstairs. as Megan and loopy Lucy looked out of the office window they saw d-man and scrapper standing there in the entrance of the cave. as the five hench women headed towards the two they pulled out there cans.

"this stuff had better work Wes" d-man shouted as they started to spray the women with A Mazing Grace. almost immediately the women stopped a couple started dancing together while the other 3 sat down and started to talk about puppy dogs and unicorns. d-man and scrapper looked at each other and then at Wes. "well I guess it does work" said d-man

"can you imagine some dude acting like this?" asked scrapper

"never mind that" replied d-man "lets get these girls handcuffed and get Wes down"

in the office loopy Lucy was mad.

"aagghhhhh I cant believe they stopped them" she looked across at Megan who's smile was so wide it covered her whole face "and why the hell are you so happy"

"his new invention it worked"

"his new invention?" loopy Lucy queried

"yes that can Wes made it he calls it A Mazing Grace. he wasn't sure if it would work but it does"

"so wonder Wes is the one that makes the inventions?" loopy Lucy asked

"well yes he is the smart one of the three" said Megan proudly.

"well in that case" said loopy Lucy inserting a key into a hole and turning it before quickly removing it and running to the other side.

down in the cave d-man and scrapper had there hands full. they had managed to get the three that were sat down handcuffed with very little problems, although they had to be handcuffed together in a circle due to the fact that they wouldn't put there hands behind there backs. now they were moving all over the room trying to catch the two that were dancing around. they were that busy they didn't see that wonder Wes was starting to slowly be lowered towards the vat underneath him.

"emm guys a little help here" he shouted. neither d-man or scrapper seemed to here him "GUYS" he shouted

"we just have to get these two first" said d-man

"well you might want to hurry" Wes said with a slight panic in his voice

meanwhile back in the office

"what does that do?" asked Megan

"take a look at your precious Wes now" loopy Lucy said smiling. Megan looked out of the window to see Wes slowly moving down towards the vat of quick set jello. "soon bye bye Wes" loopy Lucy continued

"but why?" Megan shouted coz I need to get out

"coz I need to get out and this is the perfect distraction" loopy Lucy picked up the case full of money that Megan had given her "thanks for the cash doll I'll see you around"

"why you..." Megan lunged towards loopy Lucy.

"ah ah ah if I was you I wouldn't be bothering your time coming after me d-am and scrapper seem to have there hands full and your lovely Wes doesn't seem to have much more time" she cackled as she pulled and the light fitting on the wall to revel a secret entrance "bye" she said as she vanished through the door way.

meanwhile back down in the cave d-man and scrapper were having major problems as both the girls had now grabbed them and were trying to force them to dance.

"GUYS I NEED HELP" shouted Wes his head getting ever nearer to the vat.

"OK" shouted d-man "enough of playing these games" he said grabbing the arms of the girl that had been trying to make him dance.

"yes play games" clapped the girl near scrapper who at this time had turned to look at d-man. as scrapper went to speak the girl quickly grabbed his can of A Mazing Grace and started waving it around quickly scrapper turned round and tried to grab her but she was to fast "come and get it" she said continuing to dance around.

"give me that back" scrapper said trying to grab at the can.

as all this was going on back in the office Megan was frantically pressing buttons hoping to stop Wes from falling in that vat.

"come on one of these has to stop it" she said pressing buttons frantically. looking up she could see that he was still moving till finally she gave in and throwing the door open started to run down the stairs towards the cave.

Scrapper was getting more and more frustrated as the girl danced around him with his can of A Mazing Grace.

"just grab her already" said d-man who at this point had handcuffed the girl he had been dealing with.

"what's this do" asked the girl pushing a button on the can

"no don't pre....." scrapper stopped short as the can went off in his face. standing there he suddenly burst into laughter "you look funny bra" he said to d-man

"oh no" replied d-man "ok give me the can please" he said firmly walking towards the girl.

"NO DONT" shouted Wes but it was to late the girl has once more pressed the button and now d-man was starting to dance around like a pretty ballerina. "oh great" Wes said to himself as his head started to enter the top of the vat. all of a sudden he heard a shout.

"WES" Megan screamed as she ran up the steps towards the top of the vat "WES I CANT STOP THE MACHINE" she shouted.

"quick go see if you can find something to cut the rope" Wes said with an intense urgency in his voice. Megan rushed towards d-man to see if he had anything but when he nearly hit her as he started to do yet another peruet she decided it was probably best not to go near him so she ran towards scrapper who was sat on the floor playing patta-cake with the girl who had squirted him. gently she patted him on the shoulder

"scrapper" she said gently

"hi Megan want to play" he smiled

"I would love to but first I need to borrow your knife"

"ok" he said reaching into his belt and getting it "be careful its sharp"

"thank you" said Megan taking the knife and running up the steps to cut down Wes.

later that day back at the secret location under the chapbros media building d-man and scrapper were playing with toys in a giant playpen that Wes had made.

"so how long will they be like this" asked Megan

"it shouldn't be to much longer" said Wes

"so how come you have put them in there"

"well while there like this there is no telling what they might try to play with. this way they cant get into any trouble"

"well" Megan said snuggling up to Wes "if there safe in there and they are going to be like this for awhile how about..." leaning in she whispered something in his ear. grinning from ear to ear Wes nodded and both headed towards the elevator out of the secret lair.

"where am I" d-man said suddenly snapping out of the child like behaviour "WES" d-man shouted

"sorry bro I have somewhere very important I have to be I'll explain it all tomorrow" wonder Wes shouted back as he stepped into the elevator. as the doors closed all d-man could see was wonder Wes and Megan kiss

"fantastic" he said sitting down next to a confused scrapper

"where are we?" asked scrapper

"oh shut up" said d-man hitting scrapper across the back of his head "this is all your fault"

Pick up

Queenie was the kindest of her family. Sitting in her lavish apartment, at the desk, she finished her latest novel. She’d always been very prolific, even at a young age, in fact her teachers at school used to complain about just how much she wrote. Slowly she got up and made her way down to the underground garage. Due to her selfless nature and bigheartedness she had been chosen as the designated driver to a gathering of the four families. Queenies mission was to pick up two from each of the other three families and one from her own. First she picked up her baby brother Jack.
“Now mind your manners Jack.”

“What do you mean?”

“I mean if you can’t say anything nice to our guests then don’t say anything at all.” The Heart family had always been the noblest of all the families and Queenie was determined that nothing was going to spoil this. They turned up to the first family’s home where they picked up Ace and Trey. These were two of the youngest that she would pick up. They were also a couple of trouble makers. From the next family she picked up Dixie, the eldest of her pick ups and Cecile. The three boys in the car laughed at the sight of the two hats that the ladies were wearing.

“Ladies I love your hats” Queenie said. “You’ll have to let me know where you got them so I can get one.” The frowns that were once there changed to a smile. Queenies complimentary nature often had that affect on people.

Just then there was a loud bang, everything started to shake. Queenie stopped the car and everyone ran out across a large green field. They all lay flat on top of each other, being totally unselfish Queeny laid on the top. Just then a large hand reached down and grabbed at them.

“Your deal.” Came a large booming voice.

“How kind.” Came another as they were passed to another large hand and shuffled along with the rest of all the families.

The sapling

Standing alone in a barren field, no friend except the animals that inhabit her, stands the crooked sapling. Bent over slightly and with one branch broken and almost touching the floor she looks like a little old lady with a walking stick. Stood as bright and as butiful like a Christmas tree she’ll never be she sways slightly in the breeze. Not decorated by just anyone like the Christmas tree but choosen espesialy by mother nature to stand for all to see her skills.

Small spiderwebs hanging from branches are now frozen looking crystal snowflakes shinning in the new days sun. fresh silken strands with dimond dewdrops twinkle like a string of lights. Coloured leaves of gold and red hang from the half naked branches replace the hanging baubles. Frost standing to attention like upside down iceicles cover the tree like tinsel. At the top a frosted nest stands shinning bright like a star. A sprinkling of soft white snow adds the finishing touch to the sapling.

Stood alone never to be a Christmas tree stood bright and beautiful in someones home but stood majestic and proud in the lounge of mother nature for everyone and thing to see and enjoy.

Memory lane

She had a lousy day. She had only been in charge there for two weeks but she knew that she was going to have to sort out the sales manager. He obviously had a problem working for a woman. She sat thinking for a while about what to do. Then she picked up the phone and called him. The phone seemed to ring for hours, just as Kath was about to hang up Richard answered.
“Yes” he said in that stern, gruff voice of his. “Who is it?”

“Is that Mr Richard Cooke?”

“Yeah! Who are you?”

“Ah! Hello Mr Cooke. This is Kath Wright your boss. I just thought I’d call and see if you could explain why exactly it is that for the third day in a row you’re not at work”.

“Medical reasons”.

“Is that right, do you have a doctors note?”

“Yes. I’ll give you it personally.”

“I would appreciate it Mr Cooke. Well goodbye, oh and Mr Cooke”

“Yeah”

“Do get well soon.” Kath hung the phone up and opened the top drawer of her desk. She reached for the bottle of whiskey. She needed something to steady her nerves. Then changing her mind she reached for the phone and punching in a number. The phone was answered immediately.

“A.A. we’re here to help. May Jones speaking.”

“Hello May. It’s Kath I I need to talk.”

Kath slowly made her way into the parking lot. God she was glad the day was over she couldn’t wait to get home and put her feet up. As she made her way to the car she felt uneasy as if someone else was there. She shrugged it off after all no one else could get in. It was a closed parking lot you needed a special pass to enter and only employees had them. She climbed into her car, switched on the radio and sat for a while allowing the music to wash over her and calm her down. Then after a few minutes she started the car and made her way slowly out of the parking lot. It wasn’t until she was out of the parking lot and half way home that she noticed him.

“Richard what the hell do you think you’re doing in the back of the car?”

“Waiting for you. We’re going to take a little trip down memory lane.”

“What the hell are you talking about?” She steared at his unshaven face through the mirror and saw the tears in his eyes

“You’ll see just keep on this road.” After what seemed like an eternity Richard spoke again. “Turn here.” Kath started to shake as she recognised the road they were now on.

“Glad to see you recognise where you’re at.” Richard said with a smile on his face.

“What are we doing here?” she asked “I know you have a problem working for me because I’m a woman but...”

“That’s what you think.” He snapped cutting her short. “You being a woman has nothing to do with it. Turn here.” They headed down a long back road. “You being a murder has. Stop the car.” Kath stopped and looked at the surrounding area it looked familiar but she couldn’t quite work out why.

“What are we doing here?” she asked

“This is where it happened. Do you not recognise it? I can’t believe you didn’t even recognise the name Cooke.”

“I don’t. Want to explain it to me.”

“Five years ago you got loaded got in your car and went for a little drive. You came down this road there was a young girl on a pushbike you knocked her down, ran over her and killed her.”

Kath’s mind started to take her back to that night. Shed been at a friend’s birthday bash she knew she was over the limit but decided to drive anyway. Her theory was she’d driven drunk everyday and nothing had ever happened because she was careful. But that night something had happened. She’d seen the girl on the bike and knew she was there but her favourite tape was on the floor and she wanted to hear her song. She bent down to pick it up. Then thud. Kath sat up and braked sharp. There laid on the road just behind her car a mangled bike and further back the body of the young girl lay. Kath snapped back to reality as she remembered how she struggled with the decision of staying until the police came or driving off and leaving her.

“That was when I had a problem but what the hell dose that have to do with you?” she asked.

“She was my new wife we’d been married about a month when you did that. We were planning on starting a family.”

“I I I’m sorry”

“And all you got was a slap on the hand and a little fine you should have got life you deserved to get at least some jail time but no spoilt little rich girl got away with it.” Kath started to cry as Richard reaching forward and took her car keys out of the ignition.

“Get out” he snapped “they may have let you get away with it but I’m not. Its pay back time little girl.” Kath stumbled out of the car not knowing what was going to happen to her. Richard slowly climbed out the back of the car on the opposite side. Then slowly he made his way around the back of the car to face the now terrified Kath.

The following day Richard turned up for work when the head of the company came to visit.

“I’m here to see Miss Kath Wright” he said

“I’m sorry sir she’s not in today.” Richard replied “fact is I can safely say I’ve not seen her at work for about a week”

“Thank you. If she turns up can you tell her I’m waiting in her office?

“Hey Richard” one of the young lads whispered as the head of the company close Kath’s office door. “What was all that about?”

“He wanted to know when I last saw the boss so I told him not at work for over a week”

“Yes. I’ll give you it personally.”

“I would appreciate it Mr Cooke. Well good bye, oh and Mr Cooke”

“Yeah”

“Do get well soon.” Kath hung the phone up and opened the top draw of her desk. She reached for the bottle of whiskey. She needed something to steady her nerves. Then changing her mind she reached for the phone and punching in a number. The phone was answered immediately.

“Hello May. It’s Kath I I need to talk.”

Kath slowly made her way into the parking lot. God she was glad the day was over she couldn’t wait to get home and put her feet up. It wasn’t until she was out of the parking lot that she noticed him.

“Keith what the hell do you think you’re doing in the back of the car?”

“Waiting for you. We’re going to take a little trip down memory lane.”

“What are you talking about?” She steared at his unshaven face through the mirror and saw the tears in his eyes

“You’ll see just keep on this road.” After what seemed like an eternity Keith spoke again. “Turn here.” Kath started to shake as she recognised the road they were now on.

“See you recognise where you’re at.” Keith said with a smile on his face.

“I don’t want to explain it to me.”

“Five years ago you got loaded got in your car and went for a little drive. You came down this road there was a young girl on a pushbike you knocked her down, ran over her and killed her.”

“That was when I had a problem but what the hell dose that have to do with you”

“She was my new wife we’d been married about a month when you did that”

“I I I’m sorry”

“All you got was a slap on the hand and a little fine you should have got life you deserved to get at least some jail time but no little rich girl got away with it.” Kath started to cry as Keith reaching forward took her car keys out of the ignition.

“Get out” he snapped “they may have let you get away with it but I’m not. Its pay back time little girl.”

The following day Keith turned up for work when the head of the company came to visit.

“I’m here to see Miss Kath Wright” he said

“I’m sorry sir she’s not in to day.” Keith replied “fact is I can safely say I’ve not seen her at work for about a week”

“Thank you. If she turns up can you tell her I’m waiting in her office?

“Hey Keith” one of the young lads whispered “what was all that about”

“He wanted to know when I last saw the boss so I told him not at work for over a week”
